First week: Blog Theme
Welcome to my first blog! In my mind, blogging has always been this mysterious internet entity. A tool reserved for influencers and and the Tik Tok famous. I now see that it is more like a digital journal, a cyberspace scrapbook if you will. With this new found knowledge I am excited to get started putting together a fun blog of my own.
How did I go about choosing the theme and layout that I did? I wish I had some deep explanation but the truth is I like simple. I feel that simple looks clean, fresh and doesn't take away from the subject. I chose the theme that most resembled straight black and white. Most of my photography is monochrome so this just came naturally.
I opted for adding one of my own photos as the main background. The photo I chose is one I snapped on a trip I took to the Eastern Sierras. The photo was taken in an area called the Alabama Hills. Many old western films were filmed in this area of California. When you see the landscape it's no wonder why. If you ignore the telephone poles in the distance, and the cars pulled over for the photo ops, you feel as though transported back in time. You almost expect to see a row of covered wagons kicking up dust in the hot countryside.
Customizing my blog page was pretty straightforward once I resized my photo to fit the requirements. I didn't do much editing to the theme other than changing the font type to greater resemble a typewriter and changing a few colors around. I did customize the theme so that the links would highlight red when you hover the cursor over them. This way it would be easier to know what is clickable. I'm a sucker for aesthetics and clean simple layouts. That is pretty much it. I can say with confidence that after this class I will most definitely have a personal blog set up. I think I can get into this.
I really like your photos! I can see why you like the black and white, everything just flows.
ReplyDeleteHi Ivan, I love your pictures used! I am certainly a visual girl and anything with pictures I find it much easier to read. I also like the colours, although they are dark, there is something calming about your theme!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy clean and simple design, as well. This looks like the perfect theme to showcase your amazing photos!
